The First Visit

Thanks for your interest in chiropractic care.  Many new patients want to know what to expect during the first visit.  The following is a breakdown of your first visit along with what you should bring with you.

Before arriving at the office, please make sure that you are dressed in comfortable clothing.  We recommend wearing either shorts, sweatpants, or yoga style pants.  We will be taking you through many different motions to see how your body moves, and we don’t want clothing to interfere with this process.  The shirt is not as important, but a t shirt or tank top works best.

Once you have arrived, you will be asked to fill out some paperwork.  If you are planning to use your health insurance, you will need to provide your insurance card at this point.

We will then sit down and talk about your problem.  If we think you may be a good candidate for chiropractic care, we will proceed to the examination.  We will study the way your body moves, along with neurologic and orthopedic tests.  We will also be feeling the soft tissues such as muscles and ligaments to identify if there is any damage or scar tissue.  During the exam, you will be getting a treatment to the muscles of your problem area.  This is because in order to really figure out what is causing your problem we need to see how your muscles and spine reacts to stretching.  Therefore, the first visit is counted as a muscle treatment, not a chiropractic treatment.  There will be no spinal manipulation on the first visit.

We will then schedule you to come back for a follow up appointment, where we will go over what we have found in detail.  We will discuss your options and we will let you know if we can accept your case.  We cannot accept every potential patient that comes into this office.  There are certain conditions that we can’t help.  If we do accept your case, we will discuss treatment options at this point.
